Description

This exemption was granted to permit Women's Legal Service (Tasmania) Inc to recruit and employ women only in the identified positions of Financial Counsellor, Trainee Financial Counsellor and Social Worker on the basis that:

(i)    Womens Legal Service (Tasmania) Inc provides Tasmanian women with legal assistance and advice across many areas of law;

(ii)  Women accessing the service generally expect other women to assist them;

(iii) Womens Legal Service (Tasmania) Inc provides gendered assistance both in recognition of the barriers that women face within the legal system, and the gendered nature of family violence; and

(iv) Those appointed to the identified positions will be working directly with women accessing Womens Legal Service (Tasmania) Inc through the Domestic Violence Units.
