Description
This exemption was granted to permit TasTAFE to advertise for and enrol female students in the Women in ICT Pathways Program (The Program) on the basis that:
(i) The Program has another 12 months remaining concluding in February 2021 with the possibility of delivery as a state-wide program in 2021;
(ii) The Program aims to address the diversity in the ICT sector by providing greater opportunities for female students to study ICT and develop a career in the ICT industry;
(iii) The Program has enabled a partnership between the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and TasTAFE. ACS have recognised the Program as a key objective in their 2019-20 Annual Plan;
(iv) The Program is a key action in the Tasmanian Government’s Tasmanian ICT Workforce Action Plan 2020-2023; and
(v) The Program significantly increased female enrolments in the ICT Certificate III course in 2019 with a number of those graduates securing employment in the ICT industry. The Program is proving to provide greater employment opportunities for women seeking careers in the ICT industry.
