Description
This exemption was granted to permit Australian Red Cross Society to recruit and employ an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to the position of Customer Service Officer in its Head Office in Hobart on the basis that:
- the position is consistent with the Australian Red Cross Society’s Indigenous Employment Programme, a continuing joint initiative between the Australian Red Cross Society and the Commonwealth Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet;
- the position is consistent with the Australian Red Cross Society’s aims developed in the Stronger Together – Reconciliation Action Plan 2018-2020 to guide the organisation’s policies and practices with recruiting, retaining and supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff, volunteers and members;
- the position is consistent with the Australian Red Cross Society’s goal of continuing to increase its current Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander workforce and ensuring its decisions are influenced, shaped and led by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff, volunteers and members; and
- Australian Red Cross Society’s aims to support and provide continuing career opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people so they can be represented at all levels of the organisation.
